Over the course of next few months Cold Symmetry will be looking to expand both: the core team as well as the network of contractors for future projects. Currently all positions are remote and we are considering candidates from anywhere around the world as long as you’re really good at what you do.

Cold Symmetry is a studio that created Mortal Shell, a successful, award-winning indie title created by a small passionate team. As we grow bigger and aim to produce better games, we want to make sure we preserve our culture of autonomy, quality, creativity and focus. We want more people like us who set ambitious goals, are not afraid to take creative risks and pour their heart and soul in-to making a game they love creating and, ultimately would love to play.

Competence, talent, resourcefulness, extreme ownership and a burning desire to get things done are the qualities we’re looking for in the candidates.

Below is the lists of the roles we’re seeking:

NEXT-GEN FACIAL 3D ARTIST: Facial expert with a keen eye for realism and a vast experience in the field of creating faces for compelling real-time and/or cinematic characters. High-res Sculpting, Mesh creation,Texture Painting, Unreal Engine Skin Shading and a deep understanding of the subject matter is required.

REAL-TIME HAIR SPECIALIST: Hardcore hair enthusiasts! Where are you?! Someone who is obsessed about hair and knows everything there is to know in the matters of creating a cg haircut from scratch, all the way to bringing it in and setting it up in Unreal Engine, would be an ideal candidate.

3C GAMEPLAY PROGRAMMER: A gameplay programmer versed in the deep magics of Camera, Character, and Control. Unreal Engine expert with a deep technical understanding of animation systems and what makes character movement have thems “just right” feels.

REAL-TIME TECHNICAL ANIMATOR: Unreal Engine animations systems expert and an experienced facial rigging + motion capture technology veteran, someone with a technical know-how and a desire to bring the real-time locomotion and motion matching technology to the next level.

3D CLOTHING DESIGNER: A Marvelous Designer expert and clothing specialist who loves creating amazingly detailed 3D clothing models. Both fictional and realistic, with and without a preliminary concept-art to follow, an ideal candidate is a hardcore fashion enthusiast with a desire to create next-gen outfits never seen before in video-games.

REAL-TIME LIGHTING ARTIST: Unreal Engine expert with an extreme understanding of physically based lighting, real time lighting technology and a passion for cinematographic photography. Someone with both: technical understanding of how light actually works and a subtle artistic ability to create mood with photons.

REAL-TIME TEXTURE ARTIST: Someone who treats in-game texturing like Fine Art while still being extremely proficient with the technical process. Substance Painter/Designer/Unreal Engine expert with a deep understanding of color, surface and PBR workflow on nextgen title.

REAL-TIME CINEMATIC GENERALIST: An all-round Unreal Engine wizard who likes movies, a lot! A resourceful artistic mind that would be working with Unreal Sequencer setting up the cutscenes using the game’s assets from characters/animations to environments/props and vfx/sfx to create mind numbing cinematic experiences.

IN-GAME ASSET TECHNICAL ARTIST: Retopology expert with a proficient UVs / Maps Baking workflow for characters/props and a deep understanding of polygon/mapping efficiency strategies for creating stunning real-time assets for nextgen titles.

3D ENVIRONMENT ARTIST: A veteran environment artist with an excellent understanding of real-time production pipeline and a keen eye for composition, scale, details, color and lighting, all within the context of player’s experience. From the intricacies of Unreal Engine’s material editor all the way to fully arting out virtual spaces with optimization in mind, an ideal candidate utilizes all the tools available to bring the witchcraft of environmental storytelling to the next level.

ENVIRONMENT CONCEPT ARTIST: A highly creative mind with an unrelenting passion for creating complex and cohesive worlds that players yearn to explore and immerse themselves in. Besides strong understanding of architectural and environmental design through composition, lighting and color, an ideal candidate must possess an ability to generate refined key art pieces from initial sketches, while constantly expanding opportunities for creating unforgettable gameplay experiences.
